Working with disadvantaged people and families at two shelters in Stockport on alternate weeks.
One shelter involves two teams of volunteers, one team working on arts and crafts/activities with the children, young people, and parents who are residents at the house, and one smaller team preparing a meal for the residents of the house in the neighbouring kitchen.
The other shelter involves the arts and crafts activities only.
The meals are planned by the project leaders, though input from any keen volunteers would be happily received. They are served in polystyrene containers which are given to reception before being distributed to residents.
The group meets at the SU on a wednesday afternoon. Transport is provided by the SU and aims to leave at 4pm to arrive at the shelter in Stockport by 5.
Participation is smaller on alternate weeks due to its smaller facilities.
