The Society works to protect and improve the environment and amenities of Withington, Old Moat and Ladybarn in south Manchester.
The Civic Society was founded more than 30 years ago and has provided a focus for celebrating and conserving our heritage, and ensuring that the area continues to be an attractive place for residents and visitors.
Withington Village Action Day is a day to help clean up and improve Withington Village - we will be planting bulbs, weeding planters, cleaning bollards, offering face painting to children outside the Library, and doing a litter pick alongside volunteers from Withington Civic Society.
There will also be opportunity to promote the 'Give it, don't bin it' recycling campaign to students in Withington as part of the end of year student move out process, with bags and information to give out to students, alongside the council, Biffa and Manchester Student Home staff and officers.
The event will run from 11am to 2pm with a number of gazebos and community stalls in the square outside the Library - student volunteers will need to arrive from 10:15am to help set-up and will be free to leave by 2:30pm.
