We provide emergency 3-day food parcels to people in crisis in Manchester. In addition to providing food, we also offer a signposting service, in order to inform people about services that can provide them with specialist support with the issues that they may be facing and wanting to overcome. Whilst we recognise that a food parcel can help with the short-term issue of hunger, signposting people onto other forms of support such as advice, grants and additional support organisations can go further in terms of alleviating the circumstances that have led the client to need to access the foodbank in the first place.
We urgently need volunteers for our weekly foodbank session at Harpurhey on Thursday mornings! As a foodbank volunteer you'll be helping desperate families who can't make ends meet during the cost-of-living crisis. You will be packing emergency three-day food parcels, meeting clients and talking through the packing list with them.
Our Harpurhey foodbank session is busy so you will be making a huge difference to struggling families. There's nothing more rewarding than giving practical help to people in need and offering them some kindness.
The location is Harpurhey Neighbourhood Centre, which is close to bus and tram routes. Manchester Central Foodbank will reimburse travel expenses.
