Arts in Health Activity Volunteer
The role of the Arts in Health Activity Volunteer is to encourage and facilitate arts and general activities across the NCA.
What is an Arts in Health Activity Volunteer?
Our trained volunteers deliver activities to patients on the hospital wards to promote wellbeing. We offer a very wide range of activities including pottery, glass painting, creative writing, papercraft, textiles etc. Each activity package is tailor made for each patient on admissions.
Tasks include:
• Setting up and facilitating activities for the patient’s wellbeing whilst in hospital.
This may include glass painting, pottery, creative writing, digital photography, textiles, or any other art form that the volunteer can offer.
• Assessing the individual patients need for arts activities- their hobbies, work experience and any additional support they may require.
• Supporting patients to access the arts sessions ensuring participation.
• Adhering to health and safety policy and practice at all times
• Asking people to give feedback after completing the arts sessions.
• Being involved in social and fundraising events
• Promoting the Arts in Health Project at all times
Specific skills and requirements.
• An interest in arts or general activities
• Experience or enthusiasm for delivering arts/activities to small groups or individuals
• A flexible, person-centred approach.
