Charitable Foundation that gives small grants to local not for profit community organisations in Great Britain.
The Delamere Dairy Foundation supports local community organisations across Great Britain by offering grants from £1000-£5000 for projects that meet the objectives of the Foundation, as detailed in our constitution.
1. The advancement of agriculture and of environmental protection
2. The advancement in life of young people by developing their capabilities so that they may mature as contributory members of society
3. The relief of financial hardship
4. The advancement of education
5. The relief of sickness
So far, we have given £157,000 away in grants, across 5 grant panels and supported 54 charities. We estimate that these funds have benefited 300,000 people in many different ways. There are case studies on our website if you want to read further detail. https://delameredairyfoundation.org.uk/
In terms of the commitment we would be asking for, I can describe it as follows:
• Twice yearly attendance at the grant panel (2-hour meeting) – this is held in the office BUT attendance can also be virtual if you can’t travel to us.
• 2 to 3 weeks prior to the panel, we will send out a reading pack – up to 100 max. pages of information about approximately 20 charities. You will need to read this information and score the charities against a small set of criteria.
• 2-year membership (4 x panels as they are held twice a year – Spring and Autumn)
Our next panel will be held end Oct / beginning Nov and we are looking for one new Grant Panel Member. The date is yet to be finalised.
The following may help you understand the role you play as a Grant Panel member in the Grant Panel discussion:
• Independent thinker
• Succinct in discussion and decisive
• Open minded and willing to listen to others points of views
• Happy to challenge / put points of view across and engage in a sensible debate
• Creative enough to propose solutions to move any points of conflict forward
• Able enough to understand the grant making principles that will be shared and make decisions that fit within these guidelines.
