The Digital Inclusion initiative covering the Manchester area.
Manchester City Council’s Digital Inclusion Team needs you! We are looking for the next generation of Digital Champions.
Digitally excluded people in Manchester are unable do things that many of us take for granted, so we will put you in contact with community centers and/or libraries in Manchester who may ask you to teach their clients basic skills, as well as attending digital skills drop-ins. Because of you, we will be able to help create and grow digitally confident communities in Manchester.
You will be given access to a community of like-minded Digital Champions and the opportunity to go out into Manchester communities and help people directly. We may also be able to set up some volunteer meetings and events!
Some of our Digital Champions have even used their volunteering experience to find training and employment opportunities, we’d be more than happy to provide a reference for any future applications.
You do not need to be a technical genius to excel in this role, although some digital capability is preferred. You definitely need to be patient as you’ll need to be able to listen to people explain their digital issues, support them accordingly and boost their confidence. We welcome applications from bilingual and multilingual speakers! Travel will be required to reach certain areas where volunteering sessions and digital skills drop-ins are taking place. If travel costs prevent would prevent you from volunteering, we may be able to help cover some expenses.
We will provide any required training and will give you a chance to look into further training opportunities if you are interested.
