We provide practical and emotional support to people with life limiting illness and their families.
Being There is a registered charity that supports people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, their carers and families. Our support includes befriending, respite sitting, hospital transport, social activities and practical help such as shopping. We also offer counselling services for our clients.
We are looking for friendly people who are good at listening and can be empathetic with individuals who have life-limiting illnesses (such as cancer, stroke, heart conditions, and respiratory conditions). You will be visiting clients in their own homes and will make a big difference to their well-being by having a chat with them and 'being there' for them to talk to.
Full training on active listening and communication skills will be given before any home support. We will pay for you to have a DBS and you will receive expenses for your travel.
Branch managers will be available for ongoing support and will introduce you to a client who has similar interests. We are looking for individuals who can spare one hour a week or fortnight but we are flexible and can usually work around your commitments.
No experience is necessary.
