We’re FoodCycle – a national charity that combines volunteers, surplus food and spare kitchen spaces to create tasty, nutritious meals for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation.
We run over 38 projects across the UK, united by the simple idea that food waste and food poverty should not coexist.
Within the Project leader role you have a choice to routes;
Cooking Project Leader - Our cooking Project leaders commit to once a month meals and are surrounded by 3 other volunteers - Their role involves arriving before other volunteers, Doing the required safety checks within the kitchen, being prepared for the arrival of volunteers and giving them a walk through of what they will be expected to do!
The leader will encourage everyone to get involved to prep a 3 course FREE meal using the surplus ingredients that has been delivered prior to the session.
Hosting Project Leader - Arrives a while later than the cooking leader, They would need to speak to the cooking leader and communicate any allergens that may be in the meal and their role is to ensure that the hosting volunteers understand that should anyone enquire about allergens to notify you as a hosting leader immediately.
Once the guests arrive the leader will mark their attendance on the website and serve them the meal once ready similar to a cafe style!
Both roles will undergo training sessions - (Food Safety Level 2 - Food Allergens) And safeguarding training specific to FoodCycle session scenarios!
You will also receive shadowing sessions until you are confident to lead a session by yourself!.
