Manchester Settlement is a Charity established in 1895 by The University of Manchester. Our Aim, is to work in partnership with local people and agencies to reduce social exclusion, to encourage individual and community development through educational and lifelong learning opportunities, support and encouragement.
Practically we offer:
• An after School and Holiday Childcare,
• An independently registered school specialising in full time complementary education for vulnerable young people with complex needs.
• Housing support to homeless and vulnerable young people aged 16-24 to enable them to live independently.
• Legal, Welfare and Housing Advice Clinics for members of the community.
• A range of Community activities.
The youth club volunteer will support the staff who work in our three youth clubs to provide high quality youth work.
They will build relationships with young people and encourage them to get involved in youth work activities.
We have youth clubs running on Tuesdays for 8-11yrs and 11y-13yrs. And one on Thursdays for 14-18yrs olds.
We do a mixture of activities, including games, dance, sports, art, and cooking, we also regularly have outside agencies coming in to run fun and engaging projects such as song writing and kick boxing.
We love hearing what ideas the young people and volunteers have and building that into our clubs. So come with lots of ideas!
If you’re looking for a fun way to contribute to a community, gain some experience and influence the next generation, come and join the fun!
