Voluntary Organisation supporting older people in tackling social isolation and loneliness
Do you enjoy meeting a diverse range of people and helping others? Would you be able to visit an older person to help improve their confidence and self-esteem? If you would like to have a positive impact on people in your community then this volunteer role is for you.
What will you be doing?
You will volunteer with a client to check on their welfare upon return home from a hospital stay at the MRI and identify what would improve their life. Then support them to take positive steps to connect to their community and reduce their isolation. This could include one-to-one practical activities such as going shopping, driving individuals to a destination, guidance on nutrition or being there to improve their confidence and reduce isolation. Having a cup of tea and a chat or linking into other services in the area - whatever suits the person.
Your role will involve elements of lone working and building a relationship with those you visit which is hugely rewarding for both you and the people you support. You will make a real difference to the people that you support by keeping them independent in their own homes and preventing re-admissions.
You will receive the relevant training and support for your volunteer role.
We do require a DBS CHECK and 2 suitable references.
