Caring for disadvantaged children through Computer Skills, Education, Healthcare, Community Development, Social Housing and Poverty Alleviation.
The project through the means of a computer learning program, aims to enhance the life chances and self-esteem of children living in Salford. The free computer learning program runs on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6-8pm every week. This program is intertwined with guest speakers who come and talk with the children about future aspirations and goals. We keep each class small, a maximum of 12 children per class, to give scope to helping the children to understand the skills they are learning.
We found that most of these children do not have access to computers at home, alongside the lack of understanding of computers and programming by parents or guardians, which puts them at a disadvantage to their peers. The programs that we teach is also not taught as standard in the local schools.
