We’re FoodCycle – a national charity that combines volunteers, surplus food and spare kitchen spaces to create tasty, nutritious meals for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation.
We run over 38 projects across the UK, united by the simple idea that food waste and food poverty should not coexist.
We’re FoodCycle – a national charity that combines volunteers, surplus food and spare kitchen spaces to create free tasty, nutritious meals for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation.

Come and join us at our regular Thursday night cooking session. We cook for a community of around 35 and serve a delicious array of dishes! Even if you can't cook our friendly team will find you a role in our kitchen.
5.00pm - 9.00pm The cooking team is in charge of turning the surplus goods into amazing dishes. Everything from choosing, chopping, cooking (& sampling) are the main roles of the team, along with ensuring that we wash-up as we go. You'll also get a chance to sit with the guests and enjoy our creations.
6pm -9.00pm We need a couple of host volunteers to help set-up the dining hall and ensure everyone's got a proper cuppa! Your main responsibilities will be laying the table, chatting to guests, serving food and helping clear up afterwards.
Our Manchester project is very popular and volunteer slots can get filled up quickly. If you are having trouble finding a space why not try our Salford Central or Salford Langworthy projects. They are both directly on the number 50 bus service that runs past the University and through the city centre. If volunteering at weekend suits you better you could try our Prestwich project which cooks on Saturday evening, it's right next door to the Prestwich Metrolink stop. We pay travel expenses so you won't be out of pocket.
Once registered you can sign up to volunteer at sessions at any of our projects - there's no ongoing commitment, just sign up when it suits you.
If you want to take on more of a leading role and can commit to attending at least once a month for a minimum of 9 months you might want to look at one of our project leader roles.
