Organisation Description: Part art, part heritage project promoting the architecture and built environment of the 20th Century. Through walks, talks, events & publishing. Publishers of the quarterly 'modernist magazine', arts project comissioners.
Description of role: The Modernist is a an architecture and design publisher, exhibition space and bookshop.
We are looking to recruit a new volunteer member for our team, focusing on social media and communications.
Duties include:
• Maintaining an active social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, X)
• Creating promotional and informative social media campaigns for our products and events
Essential knowledge /skills
• An interest in architecture and design - in particlar of the 20th century
• Good communication skills
• High attention to detail
• Excelent written English
• Knowledge of web based communications / social media marketing
Founded as The Manchester Modernist Society in 2009 by Jack Hale, Eddy Rhead and Maureen Ward, The Modernist Society is a creative project dedicated to celebrating and engaging with twentieth century architecture and design, through publishing, events, exhibitions and creative collaborations.
Our publishing arm 'The Modernist' was established in 2011, initially publishing as a quarterly printed magazine. The Modernist is now developing into a small press, publishing limited editions about 20th century architecture and design.
