Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Description of role: Connect Talent CIO is a grassroots charity empowering individuals and diverse communities across Salford and Greater Manchester through skills development, creative engagement, and career pathways.
Our Connect Multicultural Music, Dance & Wellbeing Programme (supported by Salford CVS and Salford City Council) uses music, rhythm, and creative expression as powerful tools for positive mental health, community cohesion, and self-confidence. We deliver regular participatory workshops, community jam sessions, and local cultural showcase events across Salford.
What You Will Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)
Assisting Workshop Sessions: Support lead music mentors and tutors during participatory music, singing, acoustic jam, and DJ workshops.
Fostering a Welcoming Space: Greet participants of all ages and backgrounds, helping everyone feel safe, relaxed, included, and valued.
Facilitating Engagement: Support participants in trying out instruments, hand percussion, keyboards, or digital music software at their own pace.
Promoting Wellbeing: Help lead simple creative icebreakers, mindful listening moments, and group rhythm exercises.
Session Support & Setup: Assist with light equipment setup (connecting keyboards/microphones, laying out instruments, welcoming attendees).
Capturing Impact: Engage in friendly conversations with attendees to gather informal feedback, wellbeing reflections, and inspiring participant stories.
Showcase Events: Support community tour events and our major multicultural showcase celebration.
What We Are Looking For (Skills & Experience):
A genuine passion for music, community arts, and mental health/wellbeing.
A warm, empathetic, and encouraging attitude with people from diverse walks of life.
Good listening and interpersonal communication skills.
Reliable, open-minded, and committed to equality and safeguarding.
Musical background: Playing an instrument, singing, DJing, or music tech is a wonderful plus, but not essential. Enthusiasm, warmth, and a willingness to support others are what matter most!
