Organisation Description: Heart & Parcel is a Manchester-based community organisation that brings people together through food, language and storytelling.
We support people from migrant and refugee communities to learn English through cooking and food-based activities, helping learners build confidence, develop communication skills and create meaningful connections within their communities.
Our projects create welcoming spaces where people can share food, stories, cultures and experiences. We work with volunteers to support English conversation, community events, cooking sessions and outreach activities.

Description of role: Volunteer at Heart & Parcel’s Dishoom English Sessions – 2027
Heart & Parcel’s popular Dishoom sessions are back in 2027, and we’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help support these relaxed English conversation classes.
Working alongside Heart & Parcel staff, volunteers help create a welcoming space where English learners can practise speaking, build confidence and connect with others, all while enjoying a free breakfast at Dishoom Manchester.
What will you do?
* Support learners with informal English conversation
* Take part in discussions, activities and storytelling
* Help learners feel comfortable and confident speaking English
* Meet and connect with people from a range of backgrounds
* Help create a friendly, inclusive community environment
* Enjoy breakfast and chai with learners, volunteers and staff!
Who are we looking for?
You don’t need to be an ESOL teacher or have previous teaching experience. We’re looking for volunteers who are friendly, patient, approachable and enjoy meeting new people.
