Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Organisation Description: Founded in 2015, Travelteer offers students affordable volunteering and travel adventures that allow them to experience new cultures in a safe and exciting environment.

Travelteer is at the forefront of responsible travel and ethical
volunteering. We have seen first-hand the positive impact that volunteering can have on local communities and we have created a variety of charitable programmes that utilise volunteer skill sets to make a real difference.

Our mission is to establish a bridge between volunteering and adventure - giving support to local communities in Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Morocco whilst providing students with an unforgettable experience.
Description of role: Vietnam is home to a wide variety of wildlife, but many native species are threatened by the illegal wildlife trade. Animals are often confiscated from traffickers in poor condition, requiring specialist care, rehabilitation and, where possible, eventual release back into the wild. Travelteer's Wildlife Rescue Project is based at an animal rescue centre in Sa Pa, working alongside local conservation staff and supporting government efforts to protect wildlife. Through hands-on volunteering and fundraising, volunteers help improve the care and living conditions of rescued animals while supporting the centre's wider conservation work.

Daily tasks may include:
- Preparing food for rescued animals: Helping prepare and organise suitable food for the different species living at the rescue centre, following guidance from local staff.
- Cleaning animal enclosures: Cleaning enclosures and surrounding areas to maintain hygienic conditions and support the animals' health and wellbeing.
- Maintaining habitats: Helping improve and maintain enclosures to provide cleaner, safer and more suitable environments for rescued wildlife.
- Supporting animal care: Assisting local conservation staff with basic daily care and observing how rescued animals are looked after during their rehabilitation.
- Improving rescue centre facilities: Helping maintain the centre and supporting improvements to equipment and infrastructure that enhance animal welfare.
- Supporting conservation efforts: Learning about the illegal wildlife trade, the challenges faced by rescued animals and the rehabilitation process, including how suitable animals may eventually be released into protected habitats.
