Description of role: About the role

Help make Hopeful Horizons a warm, welcoming space where people can connect, enjoy creative activities, share a community meal and take part in relaxation sessions.

What you’ll help with

Prepare the space, including arranging tables and chairs

Welcome guests and help them find their way around

Make and serve tea and coffee

Help with the community meal, following food safety instructions

Support the team with practical tasks during the session

Clear tables, wash up and tidy the space afterwards

Tasks will be agreed according to your abilities and comfort.

Skills and qualities

No formal qualifications are required. We’re looking for someone who is friendly, reliable, flexible and comfortable working alongside others in a community setting.

Experience in a café, hospitality or community project would be helpful, but isn’t essential. A regular commitment and letting us know in advance if you cannot attend are particularly important.

Support and responsibilities

You’ll receive an induction, guidance on your tasks and support from the Jak’s World team.

Treat everyone with dignity and respect, maintain confidentiality and follow our safeguarding and health and safety procedures. Raise any concerns with your supervisor. This role does not involve providing counselling or managing someone’s crisis independently.

Taking or sharing photographs, recording attendees, or speaking publicly on behalf of Jak’s World requires prior permission. Report any loss or accidental sharing of personal information to your supervisor immediately.
