Sub theme: Environment
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Description of role: What is the event?
On Saturday 7th November, there will be free family-friendly fireworks events at Wythenshawe Park, Platt Fields Park, and Heaton Park. These will feature a reduced-noise, low-impact display from 5pm for families and SEND audiences and a main fireworks display at 8pm.
What will be involved?
Fireworks night volunteers will play a key role as wayfinders, providing directions and information to attendees and helping us to ensure that accessibility and inclusivity are at the heart of the celebrations. Volunteers will be stationed at key locations across participating parks, including entrances, information points, and main routes to and around the parks, assisting attendees as they arrive and leave the event.
A volunteer handbook and an online briefing meeting will be provided ahead of the day to provide you with everything you need to know ahead of time.
On the day, volunteers are required from 4pm when they will be introduced to their staff contact for that site and receive a briefing, and they will be required on site until attendees have exited the park, expected by 9:30pm.
What’s on offer?
Be part of a large community event
Meet new people
Develop communication and engagement skills
Enjoy the great outdoors
Free voucher for one of our event food vendors
Transport
Heaton Park is accessible by Tram from the city centre, and also via the 135 and 59 buses.
