Description of role: At Connect Talent CIO, we believe that everyone should have access to the digital world. We run weekly "Essential Digital Skills" training sessions for adult learners in our community who are looking to improve their computer literacy. We are seeking patient and encouraging volunteers to support our lead trainers in the classroom, helping adults build the confidence to navigate the digital world.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the lead trainer during digital skills classes by providing 1-on-1 support to adult learners.
Help learners with basic computer tasks, such as setting up email accounts, safely browsing the internet, using Microsoft Word/Excel, and navigating online services.
Provide a welcoming, patient, and encouraging environment for individuals who may feel overwhelmed by technology.
Help set up laptops and equipment before the session begins.
Skills & Qualities Needed:
Patience and Empathy: You must be comfortable explaining basic concepts slowly and kindly to absolute beginners.
Basic IT Proficiency: You don't need to be an IT expert, just comfortable with standard computer use, internet browsing, and basic software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
Strong Communication: Ability to break down technical jargon into plain, easy-to-understand English.
Multilingual skills are a huge bonus (but not required) to help our immigrant community members!
