Description of role: *PLEASE NOTE- THIS ROLE IS ONLY OPEN TO YEAR 3, 4 AND 5 DENTAL STUDENTS*.
This project is led by the Manchester Paediatric Dentistry Student Society (MPDSS) in collaboration with the Manchester Student Union.
The main aim of our project is to educate parents about how to protect their own oral health during pregnancy, and that of their future child. During our sessions, we give a presentation to expectant parents, using props to help demonstrate some of our points. We also have a Q&A session at the end, where parents can ask for some advice.
In-person sessions will take place in centres across Greater Manchester. Volunteers will typically meet the HIPPOH team at the University Dental Hospital, where we will then get a taxi to the volunteering location. We will also be giving presentations online in the evenings via Microsoft Teams.
In order to volunteer with the HIPPOH team, we require all volunteers to have an enhanced DBS which needs to be verified with the SU. You will also need to complete some online safeguarding training.
