Organisation Description: Homeless Outreach seeks to make direct connections between students and the homeless population of Manchester. By offering hot drinks, biscuits and conversation, Outreach aims to be a supportive presence to people often ignored. The resource packs we put together build on this, providing vital relief from extreme weather conditions through the distribution of warm clothing and winter essentials. Our ultimate desire is to be a presence that works to destigmatise homelessness, particularly amongst students.
Description of role: Once a Month is a student-led charity dedicated to combating period poverty by providing essential menstrual products to vulnerable communities across Manchester. Once a month, we hold packing sessions where volunteers help sort and assemble care packages containing menstrual products and other personal care items into care packages. Our sessions run for 2 hours, but you do not need to stay for the entire duration of them. You will have the opportunity to work with a passionate team of like-minded volunteers, and directly contribute to alleviating period poverty. Our sessions are relaxed, inclusive, and open to everyone—no prior experience is needed!
