Organisation Description: The Willowbank Project runs weekly childcare sessions for homeless and refugee children at Willowbank shelter in Fallowfield.
Description of role: The Willowbank Project operates at the Willowbank shelter in Fallowfield, which provides temporary housing for homeless and refugee families.
We run a weekly 2-hour afterschool club sessions (this will increase to twice a week in Semester 2) in which a group of volunteers host fun and creative activities (e.g. painting, decorating cakes, gardening,
watching movies, homework help) for the young children whilst providing necessary respite for their parents.
This role will contribute to the 'Make a Difference' component of the Stellify award and social events for participating volunteers will help you meet like-minded people which makes the role even more rewarding.
We understand that volunteer’s schedules are very busy so there is no requirement to commit to volunteering every week, just help out as much as you are able! The shelter’s address is centrally located in Fallowfield making it very easy to access from the University, the City Centre, Victoria Park, Fallowfield, and Withington.
