Organisation Description: Neighbourhood health champions (NHC’s) are local people who care about the health and wellbeing of people around them. NHCs actively help others by raising awareness of health issues and opportunities, as well as wider impacts on people's wellbeing (such as access to groups, advice and greenspace). NHCs will be trained and supported to share good information on health-related matters. This can be shared face-to-face with family, friends, colleagues and around their neighbourhood. The aim of this role is to address the specific health issues that affect people living in Hulme, Moss Side and Rusholme.

Description of role: Supporting community health events and outreach activities.
Helping to provide basic health checks, such as blood pressure checks, following appropriate training.
Speaking with local residents about health and wellbeing and helping them access appropriate information and services.
Promoting healthy lifestyles, screening programmes, vaccinations and other relevant health initiatives.
Helping to identify people who may benefit from additional support and signposting them to appropriate services.
Supporting the distribution of health and wellbeing resources, including food parcels where appropriate.
Engaging with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and helping to make health services and information more accessible.
Helping with community engagement activities, including reaching people who may be less likely to access traditional health services.
Working as part of a friendly team of staff, volunteers and community partners.
