Organisation Description: Lifeshare is a voluntary organisation dedicated to supporting homeless and vulnerable people in Greater Manchester. As a first point of contact for those on the streets, we provide practical assistance, support, and information, helping individuals access initiatives that move their lives forward.

Every weekend our amazing volunteers make sure that those in need wake up to a nice hot breakfast, serving over 350 people each weekend. We offer a full English breakfast, tea, coffee, along with dry clothes, showers and takeaway meals. In 2024 we served 23,000+ meals and numbers continue to rise. We always need volunteers and donations to make this service possible.

This service operates every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning in the Northern Quarter. We also have a small food bank at our main office.
Description of role: We are looking for compassionate volunteers to support our vital Breakfast Respite Service at the Mosaic Wellbeing Hub in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter (2 Dale Street, M1 1JW). This project offers a safe, welcoming space where guests can enjoy a hot meal, a warm drink, clean clothes, access to showers, and friendly conversation.

As a volunteer, you will play a hands-on role in making our guests feel supported and valued. Key responsibilities include:

Taking food and drink orders and serving hot breakfasts
Helping in the kitchen with food preparation and cooking
Handing out clothing items
Setting up the dining space, cleaning tables, and tidying up
Offering a listening ear and a warm welcome to everyone who walks through the door

No prior experience is necessary - we just need dependable people with strong empathy, a non-judgmental attitude, and a willingness to lend a hand. In return, you will gain practical team experience, meet dedicated community members, and make a direct, meaningful difference in people's lives.

We offer maximum flexibility so you can sign up for the individual shifts that suit your schedule. Shifts available include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings from 6:30am to 9:30am, as well as a monthly Sunday lunch shift from 9:30am to 2:30pm. Because our hub is located right in Manchester City Centre, it is easily reachable for early starts. We are just a 2-minute walk from Piccadilly Gardens - serviced by almost all major city bus routes - and only a short walk from Manchester Piccadilly Train Station and Metrolink tram stops.
