Organisation Description: With an emphasis on relieving poverty, promoting health & wellbeing and advancing skills & learning, Northmoor Community Association provides inter-generational and multi-cultural activities, as well as accessible and welcoming community facilities for all.
Incorporating its own IT suite, café / kitchen, classrooms and multi-purpose rooms, Northmoor Community Association hosts a wide program of activities and opportunities for people to learn new skills and further themselves in a way that reflects their own aspirations and those of the community.
From learning how to cook, to accessing a wide range of free online computer courses, from planting seeds to getting fit, there is something for anyone and everyone to become involved in.

Description of role: Northmoor Hub provides specialist support to help people with guidance on a range of issues including benefits (Universal Credit, Council Tax Benefit, etc), housing, filling in forms and more.
We need volunteers to support people by:
Setting up e-mail accounts, using the internet, downloading and uploading documents and reading and understanding online messages.
Helping them to fill in forms (online and paper).
Making phone calls on their behalf.
You will start by shadowing our staff until you are confident in giving the right help by yourself. You would not be expected to fulfil all aspects of the role immediately but to learn over time.
If you love helping others and have good English and IT skills you could really help make a difference in our community.
We particularly welcome volunteers who speak additional languages like Urdu, Bangla, Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, Farsi, Sorani or French.
Volunteers must be patient, kind and committed to Equal Opportunities, treating all individuals equally and with respect.
We expect people to volunteer for one 2-3-hour session per week within these available hours:
Tuesday 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm
Wednesday 10am-1pm and 3pm-6pm
Thursday 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm
Friday 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm
We will provide:
Paid out of pocket expenses eg. bus tickets
An induction and free GDPR training
Professional reference after completing 30 hours of volunteering

The closest bus stops to us are Slade Lane (197, 192), Parkin Street (150) and Pink Bank Lane (53).
