Description of role: We're looking for Learning Volunteers to help us bring our educational visits to life at Quarry Bank!

• Give students a dynamic and engaging experience through a range of activities and stories.
• Share your love of history and inspire students to engage with their heritage
• Help maintain our high standard of curriculum directed experiences by making the most of the museum and resources to support this.
• Become part of a friendly, dedicated team, learning new skills and make friends in a unique and beautiful setting.
You’d also be joining Europe’s largest conservation charity and the wider National Trust team proudly looking after 780 miles of coastline, over 250,000 hectares of land, over 500 historic houses, castles, ancient monuments, gardens, parks and nature reserves (including lighthouses, villages, pubs and a gold mine!). We are a unique charity welcoming millions of people each year and with a vision to open up places for the benefit of everyone, for ever.
What’s involved?
• Learning volunteer guides are required to be on site from 9:45am – 2:30pm, coffee breaks and lunch breaks are timetabled.
• Stay in touch by attending training and update events.
• You are important in ensuring that school visits run smoothly and fit seamlessly in with the demands of other visitors as well as understanding the health and safety and evacuation procedures for the students.
• Ensure all student needs are understood and met. Understanding the facilities available for disabled visitors and an awareness of arrangements for those with special needs and offering advice and assistance where necessary.
• Working in compliance with the Trust’s Health and Safety, Working with Children and Young People and Safeguarding Policies at all times.
• Look after our special place by ensuring the safekeeping of Quarry Bank guidelines are applied in a sympathetic manner.
We want all our volunteers to feel welcome and to have an equally positive experience when volunteering with us. So, volunteers will:
• Be provided with the necessary induction, training, equipment and reasonable adjustments to do this role well and safely
• Be offered expenses to cover agreed travel costs between home and place of volunteering.
• Have remote access to support, news and rotas via our volunteer website
