The Widows Empowerment Trust

Sub theme: Health and Wellbeing, Older people
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Organisation Description: The Widows Empowerment Trust is an award-winning bereavement support charity based in Manchester that works to empower widows, widowers and anyone who has experienced bereavement. It's core purpose is to reduce loneliness, social isolation and loss of confidence by promoting social inclusion, empathy and connection.
The Widows Empowerment Trust offers a wide range of support including, peer-to-peer support, befriending, social outings, wellbeing activities, grief support, home visits, and celebration of key dates to ensure no one navigates grief alone. The Trust is inclusive of all ages, background, faiths, and cultures and also leads international awareness and empowerment projects particularly supporting widows facing discrimination in Africa.
Description of role: We need volunteers to join us with our bag packing to support women who have experienced bereavement. This enables us to pay our regular creative workshop facilitator who supports widows with therapeutic sessions in the community, volunteers' expenses for our home visit program, take widows out for a meal/day out, pampering sessions (spa), etc.

This is an opportunity for you to engage with customers while developing your customer service skills and gaining valuable volunteering experience. The satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting vulnerable individuals in our community is both gratifying and an excellent addition to your CV.

The session will be flexible. We are seeking 18 volunteers to support this event. It would be great to have help from students studying at the university, so you can assist us in raising much-needed funds to support the widows in our communities.
