Sub theme: Asylum Seekers and Refugees, Health and Wellbeing, Homeless and Housing, Older people, Youth Work and Young People
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Organisation Description: We provide emergency 3-day food parcels to people in crisis in Manchester. In addition to providing food, we also offer a signposting service, in order to inform people about services that can provide them with specialist support with the issues that they may be facing and wanting to overcome. Whilst we recognise that a food parcel can help with the short-term issue of hunger, signposting people onto other forms of support such as advice, grants and additional support organisations can go further in terms of alleviating the circumstances that have led the client to need to access the foodbank in the first place.
Description of role: We need desperately volunteers to help sort cans of food we are collecting at supermarket donation. The food sorting sessions will take place at our warehouse at Trinity Methodist Church, Butler Street, Ancoats M4 7JE from 12noon to 3pm on Monday May 11 and Wednesday May 13. You are welcome to join either session.
