Role Description
Surrounded by turquoise waters and vibrant coral reefs, Zanzibar is an island of extraordinary natural and cultural richness -- and a place where your skills can make a genuine difference. Our Summer 2026 placements focus on two vital areas: teaching English & community support, where you will help children and adults unlock new opportunities through language, and dolphin & marine conservation, where you will work alongside researchers to protect some of the Indian Ocean's most treasured ecosystems.

All Kaya volunteering placements are self-funded. Project fees include:
- Accommodation
- Airport pick-up and drop-off
- Meal package
- In-country orientation
- 24-hour local support throughout your placement
- Project transport, equipment, and resources

Role: Teaching English and Community Support
Min. duration: 2 weeks *discounted Manchester pricing* GBP 1,499

Summary:
Volunteers deliver English lessons and learning activities in local schools and community centres, supporting children and adults to build the language skills that open doors to education and employment. Your presence provides consistent, enthusiastic teaching at a time when qualified teachers are in short supply.

Communication, Lesson planning, Cross-cultural awareness, Adaptability, Classroom management

Role: Dolphin and Marine Conservation
Min. duration: 2 weeks *discounted Manchester pricing* GBP 1,913

Summary:
Working alongside researchers and conservationists, volunteers monitor dolphin populations and help protect Zanzibar's coral reef ecosystems. You will collect field data that directly informs marine protection strategies, contributing to the long-term health of one of the Indian Ocean's most biodiverse coastlines.
