🌱Volunteer Day: The Firs Botanical Gardens🌱 - Tuesday 28th April
Organisation Details
University of Manchester Volunteering & Awards Team
Sub theme: Environment
Description of role: 🍀The University of Manchester Botanical Gardens in Fallowfield (also known as “The Firs”) is situated between the Owen's Park student halls and the Armitage Centre. On Tuesday 28th April, the Volunteering Team and The Firs Team will be hosting a Volunteer Day - a great opportunity for students to take some time away from their studies and focus on mental wellbeing🍀
🌸Walking through the gates and the high brick walls feels like discovering a secret garden, with vegetable beds, a pond with ducks, a moss house, rockery and beautiful plants. The gardens are a place where students and staff can do real-world research and carry out experiments with a focus on botany and climate change. On site they have a weather research facility and greenhouses which replicate growing conditions from all over the world. They even grow Manchester bananas there!🌸
Join us from 1pm to 3.30pm on Tuesday 28th April for a Volunteer Day with The Firs! Jobs will be fun and varied - from weeding to repotting plants and tidying up the site's various greenhouses, there will be something for everyone!
⭐You'll be able to take some time out from your studies to meet other students and learn some new skills in a beautiful, peaceful green environment. You don’t need any skills or qualifications to take part in this volunteering opportunity – just lots of enthusiasm and energy! An interest in gardening would be a bonus. ⭐
We'll meet at The Firs site on Whitworth Lane at 1pm. The address is below:

- What will I need?
