Sober Butterfly Collective Coffee Catchup Host

Organisation Details

Sober Butterfly CIC

Sub theme: Drugs, Alcohol and Addictions, Health and Wellbeing, Mental Health
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Description of role: Sober Butterfly Collective is a free to join community connecting people who want to socialise without alcohol. As a Butterfly Buddy, you're at the heart of what makes the Sober Butterfly Collective so special. You're one of those friendly, positive, and supportive humans who helps a local alcohol-free community truly flourish — and it all starts with a great cup of coffee.
Each month, you'll host a Curious Coffee Catch-up (CCC) at a café of your choice — a warm, welcoming space where anyone from your local flutter can come along, feel at home, and enjoy genuine connection without alcohol. Your role is simply to be there, open the door (figuratively speaking!), and make sure every single person who walks in feels like they belong. We provide the marketing materials (logo, copy etc) but if you can promote it within the student community at Manchester that would help build numbers.

What does hosting look like?

Choosing a cosy, welcoming café in your local area each month
Being a warm and friendly face that greets whoever turns up — whether that's 2 people or 20!
Creating a relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels included and at ease
Encouraging members to suggest and organise their own meet-ups too — because Sober Butterfly is very much a collective effort 🦋
If you fancy it, organising additional meet-ups beyond the monthly CCC based on what your local members are into — think walks, crafts, cinema trips, or anything else that brings people together

Staying in the loop
As a Butterfly Buddy, you'll also be part of our wider Buddy community on WhatsApp. This is where you'll receive key updates and information — including how many people have booked onto your coffee catch-up that month — so you're never left wondering what to expect and can feel fully prepared to welcome your flutter.

What makes a brilliant Buddy?
You don't need to have everything figured out — you just need a warm heart and a love of community. If you're passionate about helping people build authentic friendships and feel less alone, you're already halfway there.
Whether someone is newly alcohol-free, sober-curious, or simply looking for a social life that doesn't revolve around booze, your coffee catch-up could be exactly the flutter they've been looking for.
