Volunteer Day: Help fix the sandpit for local children in Whitworth Park - Wednesday 4 March

Organisation Details
University of Manchester Volunteering & Awards Team
Sub theme: Children, Environment, Museums
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Description of role: Join us at Whitworth Park to volunteer with Friends of Whitworth Park, where we will be emptying, fixing and refilling the children's sand play area. We were scheduled to do this during Student Volunteering Week in early February but the weather had other ideas, and we were rained off.
We will be volunteering from 12noon - 3pm at Whitworth Park and we need a big group of volunteers to get the work done! We will empty the sandpit and clean it, before using wheelbarrows and shovels to move four tonnes of sand into place. We'll tidy around the area and then sit back and be proud at what we have created.
Desirable skills and qualifications:
You don’t need any skills or qualifications to take part in this volunteering opportunity, just lots of enthusiasm.
Benefits:
This Volunteer Day gives you the chance to volunteer with other students and volunteers from our partner organisations. You’ll be working in a team, helping to make a massive difference to our local community and helping us to create an amazing place for children to play. And we’ll provide refreshments at the end!
Toilets will be available at Whitworth Art Gallery.
Meeting Point - meet us at 11:30am in front of Whitworth Art Gallery, Oxford Rd, Manchester, M14 4PW
How to prepare:
• Please bring some water and any food you might want. Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided.
• Please wear appropriate cold/wet weather clothing and sturdy footwear. Please don't wear your favourite white trainers as they may get dirty! I can provide wellington boots, plus hoodies and waterproofs for anyone who doesn't have them.
Please direct any questions to frances.muscatelli@manchester.ac.uk. We hope to see you there!
