Organisation Details

Travelteer

Sub theme: Education, International, Youth Work and Young People
Organisation Description: Ethical volunteering organisation with opportunities in Sri Lanka and Nepal
Description of role: In partnership with local schools in the northern provinces of Sa Pa and Yen Bai, this project focuses on improving English language education for children in rural communities. Many students have a basic understanding of English grammar but limited opportunities to practice speaking and listening with fluent speakers. The goal is to build confidence, communication skills, and a love of learning through interactive lessons and cultural exchange. Volunteers assist local teachers to deliver creative English lessons and language activities. Lessons focus on conversational practice, pronunciation, and communication through games and teamwork.
This project aims to promote physical activity, teamwork, and confidence among children through sports and physical education. Many schools in rural areas lack adequate sports facilities and structured PE lessons. By introducing fun, inclusive, and engaging activities, the project helps young people stay active, develop social skills, and discover the joy of sport.
Volunteers work closely with local teachers to deliver PE lessons and organize after-school sports clubs. Activities include warm-ups, team games, and friendly competitions designed to build confidence and teamwork. Volunteers may also help with improving school sports grounds or maintaining equipment to create safe, welcoming spaces for students to play and grow.
