Description of role: Manchester has 144 parks including green spaces, river valleys, community parks, local parks and around a dozen destination parks. Parks make us healthier, happier, and keep us active and more connected. They provide vital environmental benefits as ‘green lungs’ for our city, and they also reduce carbon pollution and create spaces to engage with nature.

As a Park Pal there will be lots of opportunities for you to get involved with the work and activities taking place in the parks. These will vary throughout the year and may include:
• Supporting park maintenance activities:
o Litter picking
o Removal of invasive species
o Painting
o Planting and gardening
o Cutting back overgrowth

• Supporting events in parks
o Seasonal events
o Heritage events
o Live music events
o Events run by the Friends groups
