Organisation Description: Irish Community Care is a registered charity which exists to identify and respond to the needs of both the Irish and Irish Traveller communities across the north west.



We currently offer a range of front-line information, advice and outreach support services including welfare benefits advice and advocacy, support around homelessness, seeking more appropriate accommodation, poor health, drug or alcohol misuse, cultural and social isolation. We also facilitate activities and groups to enrich and grow our community
Description of role: Volunteer Role: Young Irish Men’s Podcast Project - Editor

Role Purpose:
To support a young men’s podcast and wellbeing project by shaping interviews, round-table conversations, and ambient sound into immersive, release-ready podcast episodes. Volunteers of all genders are welcome. The role offers hands-on audio editing experience, portfolio/showreel material, and practical skills to strengthen your CV, while working collaboratively and independently to a clear brief.

Role Activities:
In your role, you will:
 Work alongside the young men and ICCM to support the editing process of a podcast series: Edit podcast audio from recorded interviews, round-table discussions, and field or ambient recordings into engaging, release-ready episodes
 Collaborate with the project participants & ICCM to facilitate fulfilment of episode briefs, themes, and storytelling goals

 Select, arrange, and refine audio content to support immersive and accessible listening experiences

 Clean and enhance audio quality, including balancing levels, reducing noise, and ensuring consistency

 Incorporate music, sound design, and ambient audio where appropriate to support narrative flow

 Engage with digital channels of group such as WhatsApp
 Liaise & report back regularly with the staff at ICCM to update them on progress and support needed.

 Follow the guidelines set out by the Irish Community Care Manchester Volunteer Agreement.

Support & Training:
To help you in your role we will provide training & support, including:
 Training and induction to ensure you are comfortable in your role
 Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) techniques (developing something from the people, spaces and things that are already available in communities)
 Support from staff at Irish Community Care Manchester
 All essential equipment to complete edits provided.

Eligibility:
Some experience in audio editing is desirable, but not essential as training can be provided. This role would suit someone who wants to explore an interest in podcasting or audio production and/or an interest in local and wider Irish history while meeting like-minded people and getting involved in their local community.
