Organisation Description: CGL Manchester support adults who experience substance use. We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities to individuals who have a passion to support our clients, whether they have lived experience or not.
Description of role: Volunteering with Eclypse Young Persons Service within Change Grow Live is a great way to make a real difference in people’s lives whilst gaining valuable experience. Whether you want to give back to your community, develop new skills, or meet like-minded people, there are plenty of reasons to get involved.

Where: Manchester city centre, at the office and operational sites in the local community.

When: We will work with you to be as flexible as possible, whether you can donate one day a week of your time or more. The core activity of this role occurs during the day (9:00am – 5:00pm), but may involve some evenings or weekends, by prior arrangement.

Key activities of the role –

Support to engage young people who have drug and alcohol issues and provide them with advice, support and structured interventions to support their health and wellbeing needs
Support Resilience Workers to carry out comprehensive assessments, risk assessments & plans and contribute to the development of recovery planning
Support in the preparation and delivery of outreach groupwork sessions in local schools, colleges, and youth clubs to young people
Document all Service User contact on case management systems in a timely manner
Support Resilience Workers with one-to-one key work sessions; increasing drug and alcohol awareness and delivering harm reduction advice
Work towards holding a small caseload of low-risk service users, coordinating their treatment options, and empowering them to achieve their goals
Raise concerns you are experiencing or that you have about others with staff as required (e.g. safeguarding)

An important part of the role is listening to people and sharing what you have heard with the service, representing their views, and using their feedback to help inform how we develop and improve our services. You will help to ensure people hear about any decisions or changes that are made because of their feedback. You will be working with Change Grow Live staff and connecting with the wider community.

We also expect an assertive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, young people and adults, and applicants to these posts will need to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to best safeguarding practice. We are actively recruiting people who can offer us 1 – 3 days per week to work within our drug & alcohol service; we are specifically looking for people who are keen and enthusiastic and would be able to commit to staying as a volunteer with us for up to one year.
