Description of role: 🧧Medlock Primary School is looking for University of Manchester students to help celebrate Lunar New Year with young learners!🧧

We are seeking student volunteers to deliver a short, engaging talk introducing primary school pupils to Lunar New Year, its traditions, meanings, and celebrations around the world. Whether you celebrate Lunar New Year yourself or simply want to share your knowledge and experiences, this is a great opportunity to inspire curiosity and cultural understanding.

You are welcome to share:
🌏 How Lunar New Year is celebrated in your home country or community
🧧 Personal traditions, stories, or experiences
🎉 Customs such as food, festivals, family gatherings, or symbols
✨ Anything else you’d like to share about your culture

Why get involved?
This is a fantastic opportunity to:
• Develop public speaking and communication skills
• Gain experience engaging with young people
• Promote cultural awareness, inclusivity, and global understanding

You can present individually or as part of a small group of 2–3 students. If applying as a group, please indicate this in your application.

Your total volunteering commitment is expected to be 5 hours, including both preparation and delivery time.

The sessions will take place during the week commencing 9 February. The exact date will be confirmed at a later stage and is flexible depending on teacher availability. Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email with further details.
