Volunteer with Friends of Platt Fields – Litter Pick & Community Care

Organisation Details

Friends of Platt Fields Park
Sub theme: Health and Wellbeing, Heritage
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Organisation Description: The Friends of Platt Fields exists to promote Platt fields park. We work to support the City Council in maintaining and making improvements to the park environment, so that it is better used and enjoyed by local people.
We are a small committee voted for and run by members and local volunteers. We simply give as much time and energy as we can. We believe local people should have a say in how the park is run, and we raise money for projects and improvements that we think are necessary or beneficial. Currently our main project is restoring the Shakespeare Garden in the Park.
We have vacancies on the commitee, but if you just want to do some volunteer gardening we have a session every Thursday morning in the Shakespeare Garden which lies off the footpath between Wilmslow Road and the Lake. As of March 2025 we are running litter picking sessions usually first Tuesday and of the month, (but additional sessions may be added)11.00 - 1.00 p.m., meeting at the Lakeside Centre.
