Description of role: Help bridge the digital divide by supporting individuals to gain confidence with online tools and IT systems.
Role Purpose
As a Digital Skills Support Volunteer, you’ll assist participants—many of whom are unemployed or have limited IT experience—in learning how to use digital tools to improve their job prospects. This includes helping with CV creation, navigating online job applications, and building basic computer literacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one or small group support during digital skills sessions
- Help participants understand and use IT systems and online platforms
- Guide individuals through CV writing and job application processes
- Offer encouragement and build confidence in using technology
- Work alongside staff to ensure sessions are inclusive and effective
Skills Needed
- Patience and clear communication
- Basic IT knowledge (e.g. using email, word processing, job sites)
- Empathy and understanding of barriers participants may face
- Reliability and a supportive attitude
