ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are looking for volunteers to run monthly activities for girls 8 to 14 on the premises of Ashley club on Saturday afternoon, from 3.30 to 5.30.
Girls and their families come from different areas in Manchester seeking a safe environment where they can make new friends, acquire skills, develop talent and have fun. The role includes taking part in the annual YES! Camp (Youth Encounter Summer) on 22nd to 25th May 2026. We aim to provide hand-on leadership experience for students by collaborating in the running of activities during the year and the final weekend away in May.
The role involves 3 hours per month over 6 months (18 hours) + some hours on 22nd to 25th May Yes! Weekend in Linnet Clough Scout Camp & Activity Centre, located on Gibb Lane, Mellor, Marple Bridge.
Preparation session will take place on Friday from 5 to 6 before the Saturday club 3.30 to 5.30.
The main duty of this role will be preparing an activity from a prepared overall plan and running it on the Saturday afternoon together with some other volunteers.
Typical activities include: some arts and crafts, dancing or drama, cooking and fashion.
Before each monthly activity there will be opportunity to meet up in person or on line to finalise details and review previous activities and feedback as well as discussing challenges and learn from each other’s experience.
Some training will be provided for this role, including safeguarding awareness, professional boundaries, and supporting personal development.
On completion of the Ashley Club Leadership Programme, student volunteers will have volunteered for 25 hours and will have completed the Make a Difference section of the University of Manchester Stellify Award: https://www.stellify.manchester.ac.uk/
