💐The Green-Wellbeing Project💐

Organisation Details

University of Manchester Volunteering & Awards Team

Sub theme: Health and Wellbeing
Description of role: Starting Wednesday 8th October, we will be running well-being focused gardening sessions right in the heart of Fallowfield. These weekly session will run every Wednesday until Christmas, starting back up again for Semester Two.

The sessions will run from 11:00am to 3:00pm in a small, friendly group. We will learn how to tend to a garden, grow plants and see them progress over the course of the semester. Specific tasks will vary depending on the size of the group and the weather. The project aims to create a slow, happy and healthy atmosphere to garden together; giving you the chance to take time away from any personal or university related stresses.

There is no commitment required for the Green Wellbeing project so you can drop in for as many or as few sessions as you would like. As a group, we aim to create a warm, laid-back and welcoming environment for those who may be in need of it. There is no pressure to return each week.

You don't need to bring anything with you, except a bottle for water. Please wear warm clothing, a coat and shoes that you don't mind getting slightly dirty.

If you feel as though the Green Wellbeing project could benefit you or if you would like to know more - please feel free to contact Amelia (amelia.hart@manchester.ac.uk). I can email, meet for a chat or have a phone call before you come along to the sessions if this would be helpful for you.

Please note, this project is not supposed to be for everybody - it is designed for students who might need a little extra support or who are looking for ways in which to improve their wellbeing. If you're not sure if this is for you, you are more than welcome to get in touch for a chat.
