Cancer Research UK Shine Night Walk Manchester 10k 2025

Organisation Details

Cancer Research UK
Sub theme: Health and Wellbeing
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Organisation Description: Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. Our vision is that together we will beat cancer. We support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of more than 4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses. In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived. But over the last 40 years, survival has doubled – today half will survive. Our ambition is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease within the next 20 years.
Description of role: Be a beacon in the dark for our participants and help them take on this challenge. From guiding our supporters around the city to helping set up the course, there are many opportunities for you to get involved:
Course Route Marshal
- Course volunteers are the guiding light for Shine Night Walkers who direct and motivate walkers. You'll be instrumental in ensuring participants complete the course safely, as well as offering friendly and much needed words of encouragement.
Pit stop volunteer
- Pit stops along the course allow walkers to get refreshments, take a toilet break and have a moment to take in those iconic sights at night. We need you to help hand out snacks, offer water, and manage queues so nobody has to wait too long.
Event Volunteer
- From putting up marquees, handing out those important medals, cheering walkers and supporting participants to get home safely. This is a perfect role if you enjoy working as a team whilst having a smile on your face!
We are ideally looking for volunteers to support our Shine Night Walk event on Friday 10th October from approx. 5.30pm - 10.30pm. There are a number of roles available, for more information and to register as a volunteer for this event please visit: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/get-involved/find-an-event/charity-walks/shine-night-walk/support-on-the-night/volunteering.
