Description of role: You will be supporting the Learning team in the delivery of school holiday programmes and one off events which will include meeting and greeting visitors, supporting the delivery of hands-on activities and audience participation, as well as offering general support to the team.

The Learning team deliver a year-round programme of inspiring events, shows and activities for schools, families, adults and community groups. This role will involve supporting this varied programme. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in family learning and community engagement, and an insight into the operations of the Learning team at the Science and Industry Museum. We inform, inspire and e
encourage learning on-site, as well as through outreach and online.

The Learning team reveal the wonder of science by telling authentic stories about our collection and facilitating and supporting the learning of children and adults.

In this role you’ll be:
• Acting as an ambassador for the Learning team by being a welcoming, friendly face chatting to the public.
• Supporting the learning team in the delivery of the learning programme both on and offsite including hands-on activities, arts and crafts and mini Science experiments.
• Enhancing the overall visitor experience for all visitors by providing excellent customer service and promoting our offer to visitors at the museum or offsite location.
• Helping the Learning team deliver the operations of the programme including activity set up/down, and monitoring/replenishing resources.

Key dates- We are getting ready for summer at the museum!
 Q&A session- Online – 21st July 12-13.00
 Induction – 28th July
 Learning Support Academy Training- 5th August
Additional Information:
• If successful we’ll request a basic criminal record check. We’ll arrange and process this for you and will cover all the costs. Any issues raised in the check will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• To volunteer in this role, you must be {18} or over.
• We are legally required to ensure all volunteers from overseas have the right to volunteer in the UK, so please check your visa before applying.
• SMG is unable to act as a sponsor organisation if you do not have a visa that allows you to volunteer.
