Description of role: We're kicking off the Women's Euros in style at the National Football Museum!
Join us for a weekend of creative football fun as we welcome audiences to celebrate the start of the 2025 Women's Euros.
We're looking for volunteers to support our weekend activities, including...
- Creative craft session - "Room for Success", a drop-in workshop inviting people to design a model of a football manager's office. How do you think Weigmann's or Southgate's office looked? Is a perfect manager's office the key to pitch success?
- Positivity Pep Talk - a series of inspiring football-themed talks
- Celebration Station - pose in your team's colours in our "celebration station", take a look through our collection of football shirts
- Banner Making Workshops on our level 4 space
- Chant Maker, using our library of instruments, make your favourite chants and footie songs
We're looking for volunteers to support our weekender. You'll help to welcome guests and support some of the activities listed above, including...
- Welcoming guests to the museum
- Engaging with guests in conversations about the museum, the activities taking place and football!
- Support the Creative craft session - "Room for Success" - encouraging people to get invovled and supporting staff to deliver the session
- Support the Banner Making Workshops - assisting guests to get to the Level 4 space, helping to get the space ready and clearing up after the session, supporting the staff to help people in the session
- Helping guests explore the museum and find other facilities like the toilets and galleries
- Supporting staff as needed
Purpose
Volunteers will support the Visitor Experience and Communities Teams during the delivery of Women's Euros 2025 - Kick Off Weekend, volunteering alongside staff to enhance visitor engagement in planned activity areas. The volunteer role will support staff with the setup, delivery and clear up of planned activities.
Please note this is a short-term opportunity for the weekend of the 5 – 6 July but other volunteer opportunities may be available should you wish to continue volunteering.
Main areas of responsibility
• Assisting the Visitor Experience staff team to setup and pack away activity areas making sure resources are well stocked and ready for use by participants
• Welcoming visitors to the activity areas and encouraging involvement
• Following the lead of the Visitor Experience team to support the activity delivery
• Welcoming people to the Museum and assisting with any enquiries from the public around the activity and about the Museum
• Getting involved with volunteering activities such as object handling and queue management
Time commitment
This volunteer role takes place across the Women’s Euro’s opening weekender – Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 July. Volunteers can choose to do one or both days. We also need support for our Women's Euros Watch Party events - check our our other opportunity on Volunteer Hub to sign up to these events.
Training and support
Volunteers will be provided with an induction including health and safety and fire evacuation training. Plus, an introduction to the half-term activities and specific tasks of the activities.
Volunteer Induction: as this is a short-term role, a volunteer induction will take place on the morning of your volunteering. Within this we will introduce you to the spaces, give a health and safety briefing and give you training on the activities you will be supporting.
You will be sent a volunteer handbook and briefing in advance, we recommend reading these before you volunteer!
Expenses
Please note that travel expenses are available up to the value of £5 per person, on receipt of a valid ticket – which will be processed on the day of your shift, or within the next working week.
