Description of role: Europia is dedicated to supporting Eastern European communities, including the Polish-speaking community, by providing interpretation assistance to individuals who may struggle with English when accessing essential services or understanding official information.
We are currently looking for a Polish-speaking volunteer who can assist with on-demand interpretation support for Polish clients who face challenges navigating English in settings such as legal appointments, benefit applications, or immigration support.
This role is not weekly but will be based on client demand, meaning we will contact you whenever interpretation support is needed.
The volunteer can choose to help remotely (via video call) or by coming to our Manchester office, depending on what suits them best and the nature of the client's needs.
Responsibilities may include:
–Interpreting between Polish and English during client calls or appointments
–Helping clients understand documents, forms, or official communication
–Supporting Europia staff in meetings with Polish-speaking clients
–Providing occasional written translation if required (not essential)
We are looking for someone who is:
–Fluent in Polish and English
–Confident with communication and interpretation
–Willing to help on an occasional basis, sometimes with short notice
–Friendly, patient, and sensitive to the challenges clients may be facing
