Cancer Research UK Race For Life & Pretty Muddy Event Volunteer

Organisation Details

Cancer Research UK

Sub theme: Health and Wellbeing
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Organisation Description: Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. Our vision is that together we will beat cancer. We support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of more than 4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses. In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived. But over the last 40 years, survival has doubled – today half will survive. Our ambition is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease within the next 20 years.
Description of role: Be a part of something special. Support participants at Race for Life, one of our biggest series of fundraising events. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Race for Life events. However you can help, for however long, you’ll be doing something amazing. Just bring your energy, smiles and passion to the party. We’re all helping to fund life-saving cancer research. Together.

Whether you’re going solo, bringing a friend or part of a larger group, your support means our events can run smoothly and raise money to fund lifesaving research. We’re looking for people who are:
-Engaging, friendly and keen to make sure everyone has a brilliant day.
-Willing to get stuck in and help.
-Good communicators.
-Flexible and can use their own initiative.
-Team players – you’ll be joining a lovely bunch of other volunteers!

We are looking for:
- Event Site Volunteers - Setting up and packing down the event (this may include helping to set up the course and marshal stations, putting up marquees and flags getting water to the finish line and clearing up after the event has finished).
- Course Marshal & Obstacle Marshal - You could be located at one of our Course Marshal points, cheering and encouraging our participants and helping them to navigate their way around the course. At our Pretty Muddy events, as an Obstacle Marshal you get the opportunity to guide participants as they climb, crawl and slide their way around the Obstacles and help them get as muddy as possible!
