We provide services and activities that give a lifeline to those in need, offering hope and support on their journey towards achieving their aspirations.

Our vision is a world where queer liberation enables meaningful and lasting change and plays a vital part in a more equal and just society.

We recognise the diversity and strength of our communities. We create safe spaces, amplify voices and work with our partners and allies to drive positive change.

Since 1975, we’ve been transforming the lives of LGBTQ+ people across the UK. The same spirit that fuelled our beginnings still drives us today. We are committed to championing the unique voices, experiences and cultures of LGBTQ+ people across the UK.

We know that challenges still exist, but we remain optimistic about the progress we can make together, towards a fairer and more inclusive world where queer hope and joy flourish.

About the Role:

Are you passionate about sexual health and confident speaking to new people? Do you want to
make a real impact on the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ communities across Greater Manchester? Join
LGBT Foundation’s Sexual Health Team as a Volunteer for an exciting new project!
At LGBT Foundation, we believe in promoting sex positivity and empowering people to explore
their sexuality without fear of stigma or discrimination. Our sexual health programme is
dedicated to reducing risk and increasing pleasure, and we need your help to make it even
better!

We are conducting a Sexual Health Needs Assessment for LGBTQ+ communities across
Greater Manchester. This project will explore the current sexual health service provision,
identify barriers to accessing these services, and uncover unmet needs within the LGBTQ+
community.

As a Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in this project by helping to run 10 focus groups, one
in each Greater Manchester Borough, to gather insights from the community. You will assist in
collecting data from these focus groups, support us to carry out an accompanying survey and
contribute to analysing and writing up the project’s findings. You will also help promote
attendance at focus groups, book venues, and provide general admin support to ensure the
project runs smoothly.

We are looking for someone who is confident engaging with new people and passionate about
sexual health and LGBTQ+ community wellbeing. You should be organised and reliable, with a
genuine interest in community research and advocacy.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in community research,
facilitation, data analysis, and project coordination, all while making a meaningful impact on
the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ communities. The role is based in Greater Manchester and
involves travel to focus group locations (travel expenses are covered by LGBT Foundation).
The role is flexible in terms of hours, but we ask that you are able to commit to 2 hours per
week or more, with some evening or weekend volunteering to accommodate focus groups.
This is a temporary role running until early July, but there may be opportunities to continue
volunteering within the Sexual Health Team if you’re interested.

Ready to make a difference? Apply now and be part of a project that will shape the future of
LGBTQ+ sexual health services in Greater Manchester!
