Organisation Description: EMPOWER is the charity that oversees the creation, management and sustainability of Youth Zones in Manchester and Salford.

We give young people from a diverse range of backgrounds access to incredible facilities in a vibrant, purpose-built space packed with engaging activities, the opportunity to make friends, develop new skills, unlock their potential and have fun.

This is passionate and properly funded youth provision: a dedicated partnership between young people, their local community, local authorities and a dedicated following of patrons and supporters.

We are providing a new narrative. One that focuses on celebrating the strengths of young people and our communities.

Description of role: About the role
Our Volunteer Wellbeing/Inclusion Youth Workers help us deliver a range of specialist sessions that provide young people with additional needs the opportunity to engage in fun and inclusive activities; helping build confidence, social skills and overall wellbeing. Opening an inclusion offer helps create a supportive environment for young people with additional needs, as well as their families or guardians to connect.

What can you expect to be doing?
• Supporting young people with additional supports needs whilst they participate in activities around the youth zone
• Actively engaging with and spending time with young people with additional support needs and their families/guardians
• Motivating young people to participate and enjoy sessions
• Building positive relationships with young people and their families/guardians across the Youth Zone
• Providing 1-2-1 support where needed
• Acting as a positive role model for young people
• Promoting an inclusive culture where all young people are listened to, valued and cared for.

• Interest or experience in supporting young people with additional needs would be great but if not, a willingness to learn
and passion to get involved
• Enjoys meeting and engaging with people from a wide range of backgrounds
• Is organised and efficient
• Shares the same values of HideOut
• Is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
