Organisation Description: Gorton Library sits within Gorton Hub, the purpose built new learning, health and community hub on Hyde Road that opened in November 2022.
Gorton Library offers offers a modern and attractive designed interior, with a space-themed children’s library. That’s important because we know that being read to as a child gives you a head-start at school and a flying start in life. There's an strong emphasis on local history connecting Gorton with its past. We are a warm space and offer a weekly coffee morning for everyone. We offer free Internet and Free Wi-Fi, as well as an IT room for you to receive basic IT training.

Description of role: Support our Chess Club at Gorton Library on Saturdays from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. We meet every other week to offer a series of 6 lessons for kids aged 6 and up, teaching them the basics of chess. Chess is for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or background. If you play chess or want to learn, consider volunteering with us! You can help set up classes or play with participants. Even committing to one Saturday a month would be a great help!
