Volunteers are at the heart of the National Football Museum and there are many ways to get involved. From supporting the visitor experience by engaging with our visitors and sharing your love of the game, to gettin hands-on with a variety of programmes and events.

Description of role: Volunteer Role Description
Department: Visitor Experience
Title: Half-term Helper Volunteers - Half-term Activity Support
Reports to: Team Leader

Please note this is a one-week opportunity for the February half-term, but there may be further opportunities to get involved again with future volunteering roles.

Purpose
Volunteers will support the Visitor Experience and Communities Teams while delivering half-term activities at the Museum, working alongside staff to enhance visitor engagement in planned activity areas. The volunteer role will support staff with setting up, delivering and clearing up planned activities. Providing additional support and engagement to participants ensures visitors an enjoyable experience.

Main areas of responsibility
• Assisting the Visitor Experience staff team to set-up and pack away activity areas making
• Welcoming visitors to the activity areas and encouraging involvement
• Following the lead of the Visitor Experience team to support the activity delivery
• Welcoming people to the Museum and assisting with any enquiries from the public about the activity and the Museum
• To work within the Volunteer Agreement guidelines and related organisational policies

Time commitment
This volunteer role takes place across the February half-term: Monday 17 – Sunday 23 February. Volunteers will be able to choose up to 5 shifts in this week with a minimum of 2 shifts. Shifts are usually 10:30 – 3:30pm with a 30-minute break.
Volunteers must also attend and induction to the Museum in advance of the volunteering - dates of the induction to be confirmed with successful volunteers.

• Happy to get hands-on to help people with activities
The following are desirable but not essential
• Previous visitor or customer service experience
• Football knowledge
• A passion for football and/or history

Training and support
Volunteers will be provided with an induction to the volunteer programme including health and safety and fire evacuation training. Plus, an introduction to the half-term activities and specific tasks of the activities. Training will also be provided in the following areas:
• Customer Care
• Disability Awareness
• Object Handling
Volunteer Induction Group Session: volunteers will need to join a 2-hour induction session in advance of their volunteering for this role.
